Kai's update for June

Dear everyone

After settling really well into my new environment over the holidays it was time to reopen school for our new term. And we had a great start!!

For the last 2 weeks we dived right into a lot of different activities + we spent some time, settling into the new routine together, which I had been working on over the holidays. This went really well.

So what have we been working on?

The first thing we spoke about were classroom rules and more specific:

The word “STOP!”

We talked about when and why we use stop, what happens if we don’t stop, how we feel if someone does not stop and consequences.

The main activities consisted of creating our own stop signs and making a wallpaper which illustrates the meaning of stop.

The second week we spent implementing the word stop in free play and in everyday situations. We also moved on to our next topic:

Colours and letters

We have been working on learning everything about colours. Please look at the photos to see how we worked on the following objectives:

- Learning the names of different colours in circle and by sorting crayons to the right colour

- Understanding that mixing two different colours a new colour creates a new colour

- Name recognition + tracing the letters of our names

I am enjoying the time with the kids very much here and love the new challenges that my new job brings. I have not yet had the chance to use the generous money donations yet, mainly because I have only had to get little things for my class. I am however looking forward to sending you updates as to how we spend the money, once there is something we really need.

Once again, I would like to thank you all for your massive support and looking forward to my next blog!!!
